Implementing a new application is a major effort. New
implementations always require moving data from legacy systems into the new
application. Products, components, customers, suppliers and employee data
- everything must be moved. And it doesn't always come from just one place.
Sometimes data from multiple systems must be moved to one big 'integrated
solution'.
The issues involved in data cleansing, formatting, converting
and preparing for upload are so time consuming and so exacting that it
makes sense to outsource some or all of the components of the project to
an established company with extensive experience in data migration.
Redwood Systems is an industry leader in data
migration and conversion services.
With a proven track record in data migration projects,
Redwood Systems has developed an enviable skill set.
We have demonstrated that we are accomplished in all activities: from the
initial proposal and project planning phase, through data analysis and
mapping to development and testing, leading to a successful implementation
and finally onto providing post-migration support.
We realise how crucial applications are to businesses, and
the impact caused by being inoperable for the duration of an implementation.
To this end, we pay particular attention to the efficiency of our migration
software, our aim being to minimise the business downtime. Our belief is that
bespoke development produces code that executes faster than the migration
tools that are available on the market.
We are proud of the level, size and complexity of some of the
migrations we have successfully undertaken. In a complex telecom migration,
we effectively migrated:
- over 500,000 customer records and all their associated data
- from 5 disparate source databases running concurrently
- from 5 separate source computers of one particular hardware manufacturer
- to 1 merged target database
- residing on a different computer of another hardware manufacturer
- using a different proprietary database
- and created over 80 gigabytes of target data in the process
