Technical Overview
DI-ProDiver is a PC-based application that creates multi-dimensional data models. It can be run on an Intel 486 workstation running Windows 95/98/NT4.0 or higher. DI-ProDiver accepts input files created by other applications and connects to any ODBC data source. It combines the input file and a description of the data provided by the user, then creates a multi-dimensional Model of the data. It supports data files up to 128,000 rows long, with any number of Dimensions.
The execution time will vary depending upon the number of input records, the number of Dimensions, the amount of memory available, and the processor speed. Once the Model is built, DI-ProDiver serves as the user interface into the Model. It allows the user to query the Model using several display modes, including tabular, line, bar, and scatter graphs, as well as pie charts and geographic maps. It also contains a fully integrated report writer. The user is able to save views created in DI-ProDiver, and recall those views. The views will be updated automatically when recalled with a new version of the data file or multi-dimensional Model present.

With DI-DiveLine and DI-ProDiver, Dimensional Insight provides powerful administration capabilities that enable you to stay in control of your data. Users always connect to the same server, from any of the three client interfaces DI offers (DI-ProDiver, DI-WebDiver, and DI-ReportDiver) with DI-DiveLine. DI-DiveLine provides several access control options ranging from the use of an existing user database - for ease of implementation, to the creation of an independent user database - for added security and flexibility. Security is maintained centrally via an intuitive interface. Administrators can control access to specific information for individual users, groups of users, and the enterprise.

With DI-DiveLine acting as a query manager, only the necessary information is sent to DI-ProDiver. This reduces network traffic and results in faster response, more efficient use of memory, bandwidth, and disk space. Processing is shared between the server and the client: the server does the intensive calculations and data compiling while the client does the display work. By using DI-DiveLine, the bulk of the data processing happens on the server, which is typically a faster, more powerful machine. This results in the client machine experiencing quicker response time. Additionally, users disk space is not burdened with large, multidimensional Model files.

Users see a DI-ProDiver style interface inside a Web browser. The user may build Models from available data, or may use Models built previously by other users or by DI-Atlantis. DI-WebDiver is supported on Sun Solaris, and Windows NT Web servers. WebDiver runs native on the IBM iSeries, and any generic Web browser that supports Java 1.1 can be the client.
